First, let’s start out with what a shrink band is and why you would need one.

A shrink band is made out of PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) plastic. Once the heat is applied, the shrink band will start to shrink.

Now it won't shrink until it disappears but, they will shrink down a certain percentage.

What’s the point? Why do you need them?

Shrink Bands are simple products with a handful of uses. The main one is that they give your product a Tamper-Evident Seal.

When sealed over a container and cap, the only way to take that cap off is to remove the band. Simple as that.

Since shrink bands come in a variety of colors and can be printed, they are also an excellent way to help promote your brand. They can also be used a label as well.

Now let’s get to applying a shrink band. They are a couple of different ways, but we are going to show a way that everyone can do.

Tools Needed: Bottle or Jar, Shrink Band, Hair Dryer or Heat Gun

Step 1.

Choose your bottle or jar and the compatible shrink band. Shrink bands are measured when laying flat, so if you need some help, please don’t hesitate to give us a call at (800) 903-2830 or email info@burchbottle. I chose a 12 oz Ringneck BBQ Bottle, but you can use shrink bands for just about any bottle or jar we carry.

Step 2.

The bands come laying flat, so all you need to do is open it up.

Step 3.

After you open up the band, slide it over the top of the bottle. There isn’t an exact measurement for how much of the band should hang over the top of the cap. It tends to fall on personal preference, so please test it out.

Step 4.

Use your hair dryer or heat gun and start applying heat. I suggest starting on the lowest setting and trying it out. Don’t keep the heat in the same spot for too long though. If you do the band will start to curl up and instead.

In this picture, I only applied a little heat to one side.

Step 5.

You’re done, the band is shrunk down. All of our shrink bands have a vertical perforation down the side. This is just so your customers can easily remove the band. If they are anything like me, trust me, they will appreciate it.
