Customer Spotlight - Taconic Distillery

May 22nd is National Craft Distillery Day, when we celebrate the local craft distilleries that have become such an industry staple, adding to the diversity and unique offerings of the distilled spirit market. Today, we could think of no better way to celebrate the date than to spotlight one of our extraordinary distillery customers, Taconic Distillery!

A large red barn

Located in Stanfordville, NY, Taconic Distillery is tucked into the hillside of rolling farmland in the heart of the Hudson Valley. A large stone patio with Adirondack chairs sits on one side of the distillery and overlooks the fields below, while the tasting room’s interior is designed in a refined hunting camp aesthetic.

The building itself is not the only aspect of Taconic Distillery’s close partnership with the land – the company’s ethos as a whole prioritizes the local community and natural abundance in which they reside. Their award-winning bourbon and rye whiskies are handcrafted in small batches using local grains grown within a ten-mile radius of the distillery. All of the water used in production comes from natural springs directly on their farm.

In business since 2014, Taconic Distillery offers a wide variety of spirits, including bourbon, rye, ready-to-drink cocktails, and more, at their tasting room as well as liquor stores and bars throughout the state and beyond.

“One surprising aspect of the distilling industry is how long the process really takes - especially with bourbon and rye whiskey,” says Gabby deHaan of Taconic Distillery. “From grain sourcing in NY and fermentation to barreling, aging, blending and bottling, a single release can take years before it ever reaches a customer. There’s a lot of patience, experimentation and hands-on work behind every bottle.” Most of the distillery’s bourbons are 6 years in age, with their rye nearing 7 years!

Taconic Distillery uses several of Burch’s glass liquor bottles, like the Tennessee, to bottle their liquor. They appreciate Burch’s specialty packaging options that help their products stand out, yet keep a premium, craft feel.

From fermentation to bottling and labeling – everything is done directly at their farm in Stanfordville. Visit them for tastings alongside local food trucks and bands on-site or find their liquor online. Take a look at all they have to offer on their website and follow their social accounts: Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
